Kamanar Secondary School
Thionck Essyl, Senegal
The project configures in the framework of international cooperation, development aid and social action. A voluntary group of architects from all over the world were the responsables for the management of the construction. The project was originally design by Aina Tugores in collaboration with Daw Office and developed by Foundawtion. Based on a constructive system that, besides satisfying the needs of and education equipment, represents a formative model of the constructive knowledge for the community.
The School consists of modules that are arranged in a way that facilitates its growth and its construction in phases. The main element of those modules is the compressed earth block (ceb) with which the vault is constructed. The system allows an efficient construction that maximises the use of local and affordable materials.

O projeto está inserido no âmbito da cooperação internacional, da ajuda ao desenvolvimento e da ação social. Um grupo voluntário de arquitetos de diferentes partes do mundo foi responsável pelo gerenciamento da construção. O projeto foi originalmente concebido por Aina Tugores em colaboração com Daw Office e desenvolvido pela Foundawtion. Baseia-se num sistema construtivo que, além de satisfazer as necessidades de equipamento educacional, representa um modelo formativo de conhecimento construtivo para a comunidade.
A escola é composta por módulos dispostos de forma a facilitar seu crescimento e sua construção em etapas. O principal elemento desses módulos é o bloco de terra comprimida (BTC) com o qual a abóbada é construída. O sistema permite uma construção eficiente que maximiza o uso de materiais locais e acessíveis.
